Probably the oldest and largest mayan monumental complex discovered

In the south of mexico, archaeologists have discovered the oldest and at the same time the largest monumental complex of the maya known to date.

Three years ago, the team around takeshi inomata from the university of arizona registered conspicuous structures in tabasco using the so-called lidar method. Lasers from airplanes scan the ground and reveal buildings under the vegetation.

In all, the researchers discovered 21 larger and smaller ceremonial centers in the region, almost all of them similar in design: a rectangular plateau running in a north-south direction with a series of earthen mounds.

Good harvest of the musical flower bed

Good harvest of the musical flower bed

Herzogenaurach – the first school recital in the new series was successfully held in the rehearsal hall of the SJK recently.
Instrumentalists of all ages and abilities showcased their talents and skills, demonstrating not only their own skills but also the broad range of the association's activities.
In order to take the excitement away from the young musicians, some of whom have only been playing for a year, the small concert took place in a relaxed atmosphere. Musical director and instrumental teacher norbert engelmann once joked with his tuba student as if they were in class, before they dared to perform a duet. So the beginners were gently introduced to their performance and proved their skills on instruments like euphonium, saxophone, clarinet, tuba and flute.
Experienced performers, on the other hand, were the schulers, members of the first and second orchestras. They appeared in different formations. From a single clarinet to a piano-accompanied flute to a polyphonic brass ensemble, they showed their variety – once across the musical gemusebeet. Thus the evening became a full success by the entertaining concert and the city youth band looks forward to the further planned school recitals.
The next prelude already takes place on 10. February at 18.30 o'clock in the clubhouse of the SJK (eichelmuhlgasse 24 ) takes place. It can be assumed that the field of mushrooms has not yet been harvested empty, given the bandwidth of the SJK.

Bavaria has state fiscal equalization audited

Bavaria has state fiscal equalization audited

He had immediately given his ministry the task of working out a model in which the current financial equalization system would be abolished and replaced by "a kind of collection point" administered by the federal government.

Kretschmann had brought up the idea of abolishing the financial equalization system for the federal states. He had suggested that the federal government should be responsible for balancing the budget and should receive more of the joint tax revenues in return. However, even his own finance minister nils schmid (SPD) reacted skeptically. Schmid told the dpa news agency that the proposal would be "politically very difficult to implement". The transfer of fiscal equalization to the federal government, as suggested by kretschmann, would require a constitutional amendment. The bundestag and bundesrat had to agree to this.

Schmid said: "the federal principle is based on the fact that not only the federal government is responsible for the individual states, but that the states are also responsible for each other."The SPD politician is rather counting on convincing the recipient countries of the advantages of a reform of the existing financial equalization system.

Wulff wanted to prevent “bild” report

Wulff wanted to prevent 'bild' report

As the "bild" newspaper confirmed on monday, wulff personally tried in december to prevent the first publication of research into the financing of his private home. In the case of "bild" editor-in-chief kai diekmann, he had threatened criminal consequences for the responsible editor. Wulff also intervened unsuccessfully with springer boss mathias dopfner, the publisher confirmed. Journalists’ associations react with criticism. Wulff did not comment on the specific incident on monday.

Wulff’s telephone intervention was first reported in the "frankfurter allgemeine sonntagszeitung", then in more detail in the "suddeutsche zeitung" (SZ) on monday. Accordingly, wulff threatened on 12. December "bild" editor-in-chief diekmann announces "final break" with springer publishing house – in case this "unbelievable" story actually appears. This "crosses the rubicon". The phrase "waging war" has also been used. Wulff left protest on diekmann’s cell phone mailbox.

The call came one day before "bild" published the first report on the controversial 500,000-euro loan by the entrepreneurial couple geerkens, who are friends of wulff. The federal president is also said to have intervened with springer’s majority shareholder friede springer: as "cicero" editor-in-chief michael naumann wrote in the magazine’s online edition on monday, wulff apparently also tried to prevent "bild" reporting with this phone call – again without success. A springer spokesman said this evening when asked: "we are not aware of anything to this effect."

Wwf report: 60 percent decline in thousands of vertebrates

Wwf report: 60 percent decline in thousands of vertebrates

According to a rough study, the populations of numerous vertebrate species on earth have shrunk by more than half in the past decades.

The average decline between 1970 and 2014 was 60 percent, according to the living planet report 2018 of the environmental foundation WWF and the zoological society of london, which was presented in berlin. Although this means that the value has deteriorated by a further two percentage points since the last edition of 2016, the decline is somewhat less pronounced than in the 1980s and 1990s.

WWF expert gunter mitlacher cited the irawadi dolphin, the skylark, the partridge and the stork as examples of animals whose populations are shrinking. In this country, according to the WWF, "monotonous agricultural landscapes" primarily affect meadow birds, frogs, wild bees and butterflies. However, the report itself does not provide any information on the development of insects. It is based on data from around 4000 species of mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians worldwide; 16 species were examined.700 vertebrate populations.

Schlecker offers 500 euro severance pay to laid-off workers

Schlecker offers 500 euro severance pay to laid-off workers

Statements made in court by a lawyer for the insolvency administration that the amount quoted in court was intended as a "guideline for all schlecker traps" were, however, contradicted by a spokesperson for the insolvency administrator on thursday. According to spokesman patrick hacker, there will be no uniform offer for skilled employees of the insolvent drugstore chain: "these are individual decisions," he said. The trade union verdi criticized the approach of the schlecker insolvency administration to offer severance payments of this amount to plaintiff ex-employees at this point in time.

The lawyer had offered the sum of 500 euros on wednesday in the labor court ulm during good negotiations with two plaintiff ex-schlecker-employees, as the competent judge nikolaus zimmermann confirmed. As he further said, she had given this sum before the court as a "guide for all licker traps". He thus confirmed a report in the "sudwest presse" (thursday). "If both parties agree, the difficult process would be averted," the ulm judge said.

The sum was "of course not much", but the plaintiffs now had to decide whether to accept it. A uniform line makes perfect sense for several procedures, said zimmermann. The insolvency administration said that there was no guideline for this.

Bird protection comes first: clothing container with nest blocked in franconia

Bird protection comes first: clothing container with nest blocked in franconia

Christian reichel was amazed at what he found on the way to work. The young police trainee walked past an overfilled clothing container in weiher on his way to the police station of the erlangen-land police department in uttenreuth. Loud beeping makes the service technician sit up and take a closer look at the clothing container. In fact, there was a nest between the clothing bags in which a pair of redstarts had made themselves comfortable and were now busily raising their offspring. It was the young birds that loudly made themselves heard and begged their parents for food with an excited chirp. On arrival at the police station, the officers acted quickly and contacted the municipality of uttenreuth and the bavarian red cross in erlangen, the people responsible for the old-clothes containers. "The management reacted immediately to our tip about the bird’s nest and stopped the emptying until july. The municipality of uttenreuth also reacted very quickly. Half an hour after the facts were described in the town hall, an employee of the building yard was on site with three barrier beacons", informs christoph reh, the animal welfare officer of the erlangen-land police department. Since there was a danger that the container would be emptied and the birds would be harmed, the container was secured for the next three weeks with the support of the municipality of uttenreuth. The red cross waives the emptying of the container during this time. "Many people are not aware that all european bird species have a special protection status under the federal nature conservation act. This is also true for the nests and the brut", explains christoph reh. He appeals: "during the breeding season, the animals must not be disturbed or disturbed. Just now, where many young bird fugge become, can be facilitated their start in the life, by covering for example also rain fountains and light shafts, so that young bird do not fall into it."

Everything smart: kulmbach schoolchildren present their visions for the future

Everything smart: kulmbach schoolchildren present their visions for the future

What could kulmbach look like in 2040?? This was the question posed by young people from five kulmbach schools in a special project. The caspar-vischer-gymnasium, the carl-von-linde-realschule, the hans-edelmann-schule, the max-hundt-schule and the adalbert-raps-schule were involved.

Motto: "smart city – thinking about the future!"

The students presented the results at a town hall meeting on thursday morning. "Smart city – thinking about the future!" Was the topic, where visions were definitely desired.

"Normally, we specify individual topics, but the students in kulmbach wanted to choose their own topics", said project manager heike pfeffer. The young people worked on the topics themselves in workshops under the guidance of an expert and were encouraged to "think visionary and further".

Bavaria wraps up championship – player quarrels

Bavaria wraps up championship - player quarrels

"After today, we certainly don’t have to talk about the championship anymore," said a totally frustrated bavarian sports director christian nerlinger after the perhaps decisive blow, adding: "of course, the criticism will come now and we’ll be under pressure."

This also applies to the head coach, who as a fubball sage was supposed to be a kind of bridge builder to a glorious future and now rather has to fear for his job. "When you’re a coach at FC bayern, you have to deal with situations like this, be calm and sovereign," said the 66-year-old, whom nerlinger plans to ask to talk to him: "at the appropriate time. I do not have to sell it." Toni kroos, who became an international under heynckes at leverkusen, doesn’t want a coach discussion: "hopefully there won’t be one now."

Heynckes, who previously spent two years with bayer 04, does not have much hope of regaining the top spot in the table after a bitter 90 minutes at his old stomping ground. On sunday he stood with the reservists on the training ground. The players used to complete their regeneration unit on mountain bikes with removed safety devices. The bowl is far away.
